First off, let me say that #GIRLBOSS is the ultimate Entrepreneurial Bible for girls looking to build an empire. Sophia Amoruso introduces us to her world of Bad Bitchism. Through her compelling story of being a self-made woman, she reminds us that our gut is the best fortune teller, and ensures us that our reality is a byproduct of our own perceptions.
What makes me so appreciative of this book, is instead of Amoruso outlining faux steps to becoming successful (which I find stupid because there is no one direct path to be successful even though we hope some magical book will give us the recipe for just that), the heart of this book lies in its theme: its okay to believe in yourself, to be great, to be introverted, to make no excuses, and to create a space in the world in which you belong. In brief, you owe yourself to be authentic to you — and once you go about it, unbothered by the opinions of others, and just like the other #GIRLBOSS‘s, you will conquer the world.
Five Nasty Things I’ve Learned from #GIRLBOSS:
Tap into your own creativity. Don’t obsess about what everyone else is doing.
Gossip is promotion. K? Be Your Own Fan girl.
Keep your dreams in sight. Literally…
#GIRLBOSS Connoisseur / Nasty Gal CEO Sophia Amoruso treats her internet passwords as financial goals or promises to herself. Clearly it worked as she posted a screenshot of her business and personal accounts when she reached amilli (back in the day ofcourse cause now the girl weighs well over 100 million ;x). Can we say, ‘Law of Attraction’?
Confidence is more attractive than anything you could put on your body.
Waiting for the right moment is an excuse.
If you want it, ASK for it. And if that doesn’t work, take it from the Universe.
Failure is Your Invention.
